And on another sweaty note...

This year's Bonnaroo lineup has been announced. Besides being a fun, sweaty, showerless, sleep-in-a-tent hippie fest, I'm thinking this might be the cheapest way to catch The Police on their reunion tour.

Not to make it seem like I only care about the really big-name band. But I don't think anybody on the list performs for free. I mean, this is America.

Anyhow, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Wilco, Gillian Welch, and Damien Rice are among other performers I'd like to see. Plus you'll have those festival-friendly jam bands Widespread Panic and The String Cheese Incident (had a great time watching folks skip in circles to these guys’ songs in New Orleans one time).

I'm planning to make the trip to Manchester, Tenn., with my buddy Gustavo, pictured in his tent at the '06 Bonnaroo, (thanks for the pic, G, although I can't tell whether you're sweating or not) and a few more of our pals. That would make for some fun blogs, I'll bet.

Hey, Ashley. You’re from Tennessee. Did you ever go?

The Police suck. Sorry. They were good back int he day, but there music hasn't aged well.

It's good to see Hot Tuna in the lineup.

Overall, it looks good, but where's The Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah!, TV On The Radio .... I just don't see anything really exciting.

Now, Adam...Do I look like I've ever been to a place overnight where you have to camp outside in a tent, have no access to running water, and stay around a bunch of weed smoking, crazy people?

No. But the fest is only about an hour away from my house. Traffic is really bad. You'd better get there early.

It always looks like big fun. A lot of my friends go but they always come back looking really dirty.

Now, Ashley. Do not assume that everyone at hippie fests smokes the refer...

As someone who's been to Bonnaroo twice, I will tell you that everyone at hippie fests smokes the reefer.

And yes, I was sweating. A lot. You can only get about three to four hours of sleep every night. Then it gets so hot that your clothes stick to your body, and you start to hear drum circles, and smell the vomit of people who puked on your tent while they were on their acid trip, and you pray for the sweet release of death.

Then you hear Keller Williams in the background, and realize everything will be okay after all.

LOL. Thanks for the description, G.

Definitely some MUST see shows once again...never been to Bonnaroo, but I've caught a lot of these acts at other festivals and concerts. The Roots! I love a good rap act that plays their own instruments! Tool...fantastic. I'm not much for anyone who starts out their name with "DJ", but DJ Shadow is a genius. Check out his live album. Hard to believe it's a live show. Need I mention my boys, Galactic again? Aesop Rock is a decent underground rap sound. Lots of good jam bands for the hippies (and me too). I love a band that can jam for a good 30 minute song. I'm a big Police and Sting fan, so I'd be interested in catching them since I've never had the pleasure. Can't say I agree their music hasnt aged well, Synchronicity and Zenyatta Mondatta are in regular rotation on the iPod. I love to throw up the tent and eat beef jerkey and break out the cool camping gear on an occasional weekend, so maybe I'll make it this year...that is if I can find the inflatable mattress and portable shower for the wife. Sweating at Bonnaroo sounds much more fun than sweating on a camping trip to a Louisiana bayou with nothing to do during the day but listen to recordings of Galactic, The Police, Tool and the rest.
