Born-again... virgin?

The topic of reclaimed virginity is nothing new, but this MSNBC story I read about a single mother with two kids who decided she wanted to go that route was quite interesting, to say the least.

She chose to reclaim her virginity through prayer and supplication. Meanwhile others have taken the more drastic measure of actually having their hymen surgically replaced. (I must admit, I’m still scratching my head trying to figure exactly how that works.)

And apparently, this story says, “revirginization” is becoming more and more popular.
So, let’s get real for a second – if you could re-claim your virginity, would you? And furthermore, why?

Or, are you one of those folks who tossed it and never looked back?

Re-hymenizing... a great way to recycle old dryer sheets...I'm just saying the fabric is sheer enough...

But then if I'm going to the trouble of getting re-hymenized perhaps I'd want cinnamon or silver or some other fantastic shade or maybe I want the bedazzled one...

I would do this for what reason?? To pay money, to loose it again??? uuummm, Not so sure about that... Now, maybe a little nip here and a tuck there........ but why re-hymenize... after all, i've worked so long getting it the way i want! :)

why would anyone try to go backwards in time and life.. it's precisely stuff like this .. that makes people make fools of themselves.. chasing illusion and delusions. and then wallowing in a cycle of regret..

as people it's quite simple.. we live and learn and in doing so... we grow.. and modify how we live progressively...

but these patronizing self defeating question as this is an insult to any person or people of intellect.

where do people like this come from... is there a "fool factory" some place, that produces them ??

this is precisely why and how the medical companies can sell all these people any kind of drug, which they can create, which ends up killing them in the long term..

and the Times has the nerves to present this as a headline topic.. that exemplifies how lost this region is and how limited in worthy news these non functioning editors engage and promote.

Well, finally the blog is seeing some action!

I honestly can't think of any good reason to do this. Perhaps it has something to do with religion or perhaps if your virginity was taken form you, this procedure may give you something back? I'm trying to be open minded here but in a world where surgical procedures can correct or enhance nearly anything I can't even think of a good reason why someone would want this one.

I'll go back to religion on this one or guess that there are some cultures who pay attention to that sort of thing.

you people have enough esteem problems .. without trying to make them think they can go back in time..
they carry enough challenges in their pursuit of a future, without some article trying to make them add another "self esteem defeating boulder" in their back pack full of challenges..

They are looking at a devastated job market, and social break down of every sort.. Now because they explored the nature of their sexuality, this kind of article want them to feel worthless, unless they play some game of .. "let's back up time"..

We live one time, each experience is it's own value and it's own truth seeking, and we live and grow by and through our experiences..

Wake up people.. and think about the stuff you say, before you put it to print.

this is the very reason this area suffers so much backward motion and, stagnated growth.. The continual chase of "Arrested development" seems to be like a plague.. that is eating away at people.. trying to recreate yesterday... rather than reach into tomorrow and feel enriched by your experiences that lead you into what is tomorrow.

the myths about virginity have circled this globe far too long, and made far too many people "looney" in more ways than not..

it's nature.. pure and simple nature, that protects the opening until the age that the female can properly clean herself and maintain her hygiene, and when she is at the age of fertility, then, she, by the forces of nature and, desire has the natural inclination to copulate.. and it comes to be..
some for love, some for curiosity.. that is human nature..

in a world where we have 2nd, 3rd time marriages, there is nothing about virginity that is to seperate one woman as being above another woman.. they each are capable of love, and they each are capable of passion.. for love , pleasure, fun, explorations and many many reason of why people engage each other..

now how would a lesbian, be so sacred because she has not been entered by a man, but has tried every imaginable engagment with another woman short of penetration.. it's still sex, it's still engaging the emotions of sex.
and those acts with another woman have the same impact of drives to be manipulative, selfish, self consumed, pleasure seeking, and any other assocciation of human motivation that is relative to sex and the expression of sexual feelings.

people are too busy trying to be special.. they cannot appreciate their own distinctiveness as individuals.. and then turn and judge a person by their sexual actions, not the quality of their character and the humaneness of their dignity..

with this good girl bad girl syndrom, that has nothing to do with anything except judging a female by whether or not she has engaged sex... as if that's all that matter .. of her being an individual person and individual person...
no wonder we have so many neuoritic cases within the ranks of females... who are bombarded with this ancient mythological concepts that have been passed down as folklore tales..

that's about as pathetic as assocciating a fireplace with romance.. when that old tale forgets the truth.. the truth is.. they did not have gas heaters, then and they did not have electricity..

but this forever act of trying to recreate some romanticized concept that people can't appreciate each other sitting in a warm house that has central heating and electric light switches and see the natural romance of being together..

they yearn for some staged setting, as if it's suppose to fit an imagery before they can accept being appreciated and loved as an individual..

this kind of stuff has people on every kind of medication imaginable, with a mind filled with.. "what's wrong with me".. when there is nothing wrong with them if ...people stop bombarding them with this make believe, romance novel silliness. to the point they can't discern between reality and the groomed delusion to seek to create some novelist, imaginary setting of lust driven rhetoric.. they call romance.. which in every aspect of it, is all about teasing arousal, and playing and making a game out of it to fit some mental imagery..

now wonder people break up, and claim love is gone.. the minute that the effrorts are not put into building and creating and engaging these pre-staged events .. as measuring tools.

these may be people with too much money and nothing else to do..

trying to set another trend so their husband doctors can make more money.

people can be like sheep.. they follow anything.. and never ask why?

and then the boast about it..
(humor)
if they want it closed up, then just solve the problem and have it surgically stitched =))

kathryn, as always, you keep me laughing.
elizabeth, i agree - this blog is finally seeing some action again, lol.thanks for stopping by.
All of the anonymous posters - y'all made some really interesting points and for the most part I agree.
I don't get why they wouldn't just choose celibacy and call it a day. I don't even get the difference in celibacy and 'revirginization.' (Not including the surgical aspect of it.)

Anonymous at 9:02 p.m. - lol and saying "OUCH!" at the same time, lol.

The only segment of women in the MSNBC story that I could sympathize with were those from other countries who get the surgical procedure done so that they won't have to face punishment or even death upon returning to their country. That's just sad.
Otherwise, the whole concept of 'revirgnization' sounds silly, unrealistic, foolish and pretentious. But then again, what do I know...

And ummm anonymous at 2:05 p.m. - I guess you could pose the same sentiments to MSNBC where this story came from and was also included as a headline topic also.
It's called variety, which I always thought was spice of life. Thanks for stopping by.
